~JUST ABOUT EVERYTHING KID RELATED CAN BE SOLD~
Items NOT Accepted • Clothing that is stained, torn, missing buttons or zippers, or is out of season or style • Toys and equipment that has not been wiped or washed clean • Toys and equipment that is missing essential parts • Stuffed animals • Happy Meal and dollar store toys • Worn underwear • Pacifiers and bottles • Cribs with drop-down sides (Ask us for the Consumer Product Safety Commission's guidelines if you want to sell a crib). • Bumper Pads • VHS tapes • Maternity * Breast Pumps We monitor all items brought to the sale. If they are not in good condition, they will be pulled from the selling floor. We reserve the right to refuse any item.
Preparing Your Items Cleaning and Preparing Clothing • Please wash all clothing and make sure it is free of stains. • Try to make your items look their best by ironing (if needed), buttoning, and zipping, etc. • Place all clothing on hangers. Any type is fine. Position each hanger like a question mark with the opening on the left side if you are looking at the garment. Attach the item to the hanger with safety pins (if it is loose) so it will not fall off onto the floor. If the item is a two-piece outfit, attach both pieces together so they will not be separated. • Pin tags to the garments on the left side at chest level. If it appears the pin will leave a hole in the garment, pin the card to the inside tag. NO straight pins please. • Group clothing together according to size and gender before the sale to reduce drop-off time. • Group lower cost items (e.g., socks, hair accessories) together in Ziploc bags and tape the tag to the outside of the bag with masking tape. • Shoes: Tie shoes together with a zip tie (wire tie), laces, or ribbon.
Cleaning and Preparing Other Items • Toys and other equipment: Clean by wiping away dirt with cleaner. Q-tips are great for getting in small crevices. • Assemble and install working batteries when necessary so buyers can see the item is in working order. Place small parts (e.g., little people, balls) in Ziploc bags and attach them to the item. • Upholstered pieces: Machine or hand wash according to the manufacturer’s instructions. • Original packaging: If possible, package items in the original packaging and include manuals and instructions. • Games: Tape boxes closed so pieces are not lost at the sale. • Videos, DVDs, and books: When grouping together more than one item, please put them in clear bags. Write the name of each item included in the bag on the tag.
Pricing Guidelines • Prices should all be in $0.50 increments. This will make it easier for checkout. • Ask yourself what would you be willing to pay for each item. • Is it new (with tags) or barely worn? Price higher. • Is it a popular well-known brand name (Gap, Polo, Gymboree)? Price higher. • Do you want to get rid of it? Price it to SELL! • Do you want to receive a bigger check and have fewer items to take home? Price to sell! • Is it from Target, Kmart, or WalMart? Price WAY lower. • Keep in mind, the items are worth nothing sitting in a bin in the attic.
Growing Express Tip: The consignors who sell the most are those who price their items to sell!
